Born in Calcutta, singer Sugata Chatterjee has cultivated a systematic and disciplined
training from her childhood days under the able guidance of guru Satya Ranjan Chatterjee.
Under his tutelage, she completed SANGEET PRABHAKAR (six years diploma in vocal),
conferred by Alahabad Sangeet Parsad, India, in 1989.
She proceeded on to further her training from Pundit Ajoy Chakraborti, and Pundits
Mohanlal Mishra, Falguni Mitra.and Girija Devi.
Her versatility now includes Hindustani Khyal, Bhajan, Thumri and Ragpradhan.

- Solo performance at Oberlin Music Conservatory in 1996, 2001 and 2006
- Took part at the 200th anniversary celebration of City of Cleveland in 1996
- Fundraising concert for Shiva Vishnu Temple, Parma, OH, in 2001
